Mystery Ship on the Beach

We took a trip down the Fort Morgan Road to find this Mystery Ship (at mile marker 6) that was uncovered by Hurricane Ike's waves. The ship is around 150 feet long and 30 feet wide. It is a wooden ship and was probably powered by steam. A long pipe runs down the center of the ship, with smaller pipes found near by. No one knows for sure what ship this is, historians believe it was a blockade-runner from the Civil War - possibly the Monticello.

I was amazed that you can still see the
charred wood on the burned ship.

Peg holes...

The stern.

Couldn't leave without this shot...
